Used in the early mining days for concerts and Union meetings. The building was bought by the Anglican Church in 1928 and the west wall had been blown out. The church rebuilt the west wall. It was sold to Mr Wrigley for ₤600 in 1942. It housed the Akrad Corporation business (later PYE NZ) until 1962.
Although substantially modified, inside there still can be seen some magnificent late Victorian ceiling moulds.
