Waihi 3610
(Corner Rosemont Road and Kenny Street)
This was built in 1899 at Golden Cross, Waitekauri as a two storey wooden building with 17 rooms and dining room. It was later relocated to its present site in Waihi around 1910. The hotel was in Rosemont Road by 1912 during the Miners Strike. It's only departure from being a hotel/boarding house was in more recent years when prostitution was legalised and it was used as a brothel for a short time.
